With this let­ter from 29.12.1946 Henry Cohen, who had sur­vived in Shang­hai, turned to the Ham­burg Jew­ish Con­gre­ga­tionto ex­plore the pos­si­bil­i­ties of re­turn­ing to Ham­burg from China. The let­ter is con­tained in the file ti­tled „Rückwanderung nach Deutsch­land“ [Rem­i­gra­tion to Ger­many] in the State Archives Ham­burg, which also con­tains the con­gre­ga­tion's let­ter of reply.
