The circular of May 30, 1947, written by Hendrik George Van Dam on behalf of the Jewish Relief Unit The Jewish Relief Unit was part of the Jewish Committee for Relief Abroard, a British charity organization that was active from 1945 to 1950 and supported Jewish DPs in applying for identity documents, searching for missing relatives or medical care was intended to give the Jewish congregations advice on how to deal with returnees, at the same time it makes clear the restrictive handling by the Allied authorities as well as the reservations on the Jewish side.
