                        <note type="editorial" place="inline">5</note>528</date>, <note type="editorial" place="foot">according to the abbreviated era October 20,
                    1767</note>we, the signatories below, gathered and have determined the great
                need for our <orgName ref="nognd">congregation</orgName> to borrow for the needs of
                our <orgName ref="nognd">congregation</orgName>, <abbr>i.e.</abbr>, to pay for the
                shares for both the <foreign xml:lang="de">Blonden</foreign> and the <foreign xml:lang="de">Beuteltuch</foreign> factory</p>
            <note>Blonden are a type of bobbin lace made from raw silk; Beuteltuch is a coarse cloth

            <p> and other needs of the <orgName ref="nognd">congregation</orgName> – for the sum of
                two thousand two hundred Reichstaler <foreign xml:lang="fr">Louis d‘Or</foreign>.
                The capital is lent to our <orgName ref="nognd">congregation</orgName> by <foreign xml:lang="he">ha-chakham ha-gadol</foreign><note type="editorial" place="foot">Hebrew: the great scholar. As the many honorifics that precede the names of
                    rabbis and congregation leaders are often difficult to distinguish or define
                    precisely in translation, they are briefly explained.</note>

                interest. The 2,200 <foreign xml:lang="de">Reichstaler</foreign>
                <foreign xml:lang="fr">Louis d’Or</foreign> will be collected by the <foreign xml:lang="he"><roleName>katzin moreinu ha-rav</roleName></foreign>
                <persName ref="nognd">Moriah Katz</persName>, who will hand over the coins to the
                tax collector <foreign xml:lang="he">ha-chakham ha-gadol <roleName>ha-rav
                        rabenu</roleName><note type="editorial" place="foot">Literally: the rabbi
                        our rabbi</note></foreign>
                <persName ref="nognd">Israel bar <abbr>Sch.</abbr></persName> and he will calculate
                the 2,200 <foreign xml:lang="de">Reichstaler</foreign> well as usual. We, the
                undersigned, have signed a promissory note <foreign xml:lang="la">in
                    solidum</foreign> to the aforementioned <persName ref="nognd"><abbr>R.</abbr>
                    Yaakov</persName> for the benefit of our <orgName ref="nognd">congregation</orgName>; and when <persName ref="nognd">Yaakov</persName>
                demands his capital back, then the aforementioned sum shall be raised by the
                    <roleName>members</roleName> of the <orgName ref="nognd">congregation</orgName>,
                one half according to the head tax and one half according to the assets. At the
                beginning of the Martinmas fair, which begins in the month of Cheshvan 528<note place="foot" type="editorial"><date when="1767-10">October</date> / <date when="1767-11">November 1767</date></note> according to the minor reckoning,
                a meeting of the <orgName ref="nognd">congregations of <note type="editorial" place="inline"><placeName ref="http://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7016786">Prussia</placeName></note></orgName> shall be held, then strangers,
                impartial people, shall determine in what manner the above-mentioned expenses, that
                is, for the shares for the <foreign xml:lang="de">Blonden</foreign> and <foreign xml:lang="de">Beuteltuch</foreign> factory, shall be raised. And thus, we will
                follow the judgment of the impartial people. And so it will be with the interest
                that we have to pay on the above-mentioned capital, that is, that we will raise it
                in the above-mentioned manner. And if the parties decide to raise the
                above-mentioned expenses in another way, we will add the funds half according to the
                assets and at least half according to the above-mentioned head tax. This is how it
