Therefore had coffee again with Bingold and Le Blanc, reflecting on Leschke and went to the Friedrichsbad spa. All the ladies bathe naked there. Enormous quackery. Changed at home. Late in the evening the gentlemen arrive: Brauer in high spirits, Rabe Wenckebach, Magnus, Kestner & R. Geronnes. Mrs. Dr. Doktor Levy-Kämmerer sings a song. Mrs. Rabe embarrasses herself. Brauer tells jokes & other things. Didn’t go home until 11:30 accompanied by Kestner. 26th Wednesday. In the morning paper by Biedel on pituitary gland, brilliant. During the discussion Kestner talks about gas exchange, Biedel himself says this had been the most important factor. Breakfast with Becker & the Eppendorfers. The discussion, to which Plaut also contributes, produces little new information otherwise. The afternoon was bearable for a short time only. Later had coffee with Magnus & went to the garden with him & Kestner. Talked about temperature regulation. Had dinner alone in the Ratskeller. Earlier Plautchen and I went up the & Nerobergmountain. Plautchen does not feel well up there. Watched an advertising film by the Merck company. In the evening I had a chat with the Misses Matthias.Written in the right margin. The discussion continued later, but after so many papers I didn’t understand anything anymore. In the evening Rabe and I set off for the Taunus- aussicht, ran into Kestner, who comes along. Rabe has been offered a position as chief physician at the former sanatorium a huge operation. He is not sure yet whether to accept. His wife says: Close your eyes and jump in. Dinner with Kestner & Wenely at the Rathauskeller. Wrote to Mrs. K. Then gala concert. Met with the Eppen- dorfers. On the program: Violin concerto III Symphonie Coriolanus overture by Beethoven. It got very late. Went home with Miss Mathias.
