                <hi rendition="#c">The following agreement has been made<lb/> between the <orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/236077-9">German-Israelite
                    congregation</orgName><lb/> and the <orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/5224509-3">city treasury</orgName>; it is subject
                    to authorization of the<lb/> required funds. </hi>
            </p>
            <p><hi rendition="#c">§ 1</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">The <orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/236077-9">German-Israelite congregation</orgName> assumes the</hi>pastoral care for
                prisoners of the Jewish faith held at<lb/>the <placeName ref="http://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7183316">Fuhlsbüttel</placeName> penitentiaries
                and the pretrial detention center in <placeName ref="http://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7005289">Hamburg</placeName><lb/>to the hitherto
                existing extent <lb/>through a <roleName>chaplain</roleName> appointed by them.
                The<lb/>appointment of a <roleName>chaplain</roleName> planned in accordance with
                this<lb/>is subject to approval by the <orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/5061024-7">senate commission for judicial<lb/>administration</orgName>, department of
                corrections.</p>
            <p><hi rendition="#c">§ 2</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">Beginning on <date when="1914-01-01">January 1st, 1914</date>,
                    The <orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/236077-9">German-Israelite
                        congregation</orgName></hi>receives an annual compensation of 500.- <choice>
                    <abbr>ℳ</abbr>
                    <expan>Marks</expan>
                </choice>, which<lb/>will be paid retroactively in quarterly installments by the
                    <roleName>prison<lb/>administration</roleName> in <placeName ref="http://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7183316">Fuhlsbüttel</placeName>.</p>
            <p><hi rendition="#c">§ 3</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">The expected pastoral care includes the following duties</hi> of
                the appointed <roleName>chaplain</roleName>: <hi rendition="#et">1) Holding a
                    religious service with subsequent <lb/>
                    religious lecture on Jewish morals and ethics at<lb/>
                    Prison I in <placeName ref="http://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7183316">Fuhlsbüttel</placeName> on every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the<lb/>
                    month and on all Jewish holidays (<ref target="#Pessach" type="editorialNote">Pessach</ref>-Easter,<lb/>
                    <ref target="#Shavuot" type="editorialNote">Shavuot</ref>-Pentecost, <ref target="#Rosch Haschana" type="editorialNote">New Year’s</ref>, <ref target="#Yom Kippur" type="editorialNote">Yom Kippur</ref>, <ref target="#Sukkot" type="editorialNote">Sukkot</ref>,<lb/>
                    <ref target="#Simchat Torah" type="editorialNote">Simchat Torah</ref>),<lb/>
                    2) Offering religious counseling at the specific request</hi>of a prisoner as
                soon as possible after such a request<lb/>
                has been made,</p>
            <p><hi rendition="#et"> 3) Visiting female prisoners and providing</hi>religious
                counseling to them once a month and<lb/>at specific request,<hi rendition="#right">4)</hi></p>

            <p><hi rendition="#et">4) Visiting pretrial detainees and providing</hi>religious
                counseling to them at specific request <lb/>as soon as possible after such a request
                has been made,</p>
            <p><hi rendition="#et"> 5) Visits for welfare purposes after a prisoner has been
                    discharged</hi>in order to reintegrate the discharged convict into
                ordered<lb/>circumstances or to initiate a reconciliation between<lb/>the convict
                and their families so that they are welcomed back<lb/>into the family.</p>
            <p>
                <hi rendition="#c">§ 4</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">Furthermore, at the request of the <roleName>prison
                        administration</roleName>,</hi>
                    the <roleName>chaplain</roleName> is obligated to translate letters<lb/>
                    in Hebrew writing written by or sent to inmates<lb/>
                    correctly and diligently into<lb/>
                    German while maintaining discretion<lb/>
                    about their contents towards other persons
            </p>
            <p><hi rendition="#c">§ 5</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">The <roleName>chaplain</roleName> pledges to obey</hi> the
                institution’s legal regulations to the <roleName>prison<lb/>
                    warden</roleName> by handshake. In case of violation, his<lb/>
                 accreditation may be revoked by the judicial administration and the<lb/>
                 appointment of another <roleName>chaplain</roleName> may be requested.</p>
            <p><hi rendition="#c">§ 6</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">The particular objects required for the religious
                rituals</hi>are provided by the <orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/236077-9">German-Israelite <lb/>congregation</orgName>; they remain its property.</p>
            <p>
                <hi rendition="#c">§ 7</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">This agreement is subject to cancellation by either
                party</hi>effective at the end of each quarter of the calendar year <lb/>with a
                required three months’ notice. </p>
            <p>
                <hi rendition="#c">§ 8</hi>
                <hi rendition="#et">The costs of this agreement are covered by the
                        <orgName>German-Israelite </orgName></hi><orgName ref="http://d-nb.info/gnd/236077-9">congregation</orgName>.<lb/>
